INDY® RACER AND INDY 500 EVENT CAR BY GREENLIGHT® COLLECTIBLES COMMEMORATES 90th RUNNING OF THE INDIANAPOLIS 500

April 25, 2006 - GreenLight® Collectibles along with the Indianapolis Motor Speedway are excited to announce the release of the Indy® Racer and the Indy 500 Event Car.

The Indy® Racer 
Dating back to 1946 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway®, track owner Tony Hulman commissioned a polished stainless steel Indy® race car collectible that was given by Mr. Hulman and general manager Wilbur Shaw as a gift to drivers, sponsors and special Speedway dignitaries.  Hulman also had the Clabber Girl name applied to a limited number of the cars, a unique way to tie together Hulman & Company’s two most well-known business interests: racing and baking powder.  The car body design was typical of cars from the late 30’s and into the post war era, and has even been said to replicate the style of the Maserati that Shaw drove to victory in the 1939 and 1940 Indianapolis 500®’s.  This replica, manufactured by GreenLight® Collectibles for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway®, commemorates the original steel Indy® Racer on the occasion of the 90th Running of The Greatest Spectacle in Racing®.
    


The Indy® Racer is approximately 1:24 scale in size.  A blue chrome version of only 250 units is being sold as well.  The Indy® Racers will be packaged in a custom designed window box.

The Indy 500 Event Car
The 2006 Indy 500 Event Car celebrates the 90th Running of the Indianapolis 500.  These die-cast replicas feature real rubber tires, metal body and chassis with wonderfully detailed graphics.  The event car is available in 1:18 and 1:64 scales and are limited edition pieces.
