INDIANAPOLIS (March 26, 2008) The 2008 IndyCar Series season gets underway this weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway (Saturday at 8:00pm, ESPN2) with fan excitement and anticipation at an all-time high. 2008 has already been a historic year for the IndyCar Series with the merger between the IndyCar Series and Champ Car World Series, not to mention the announcement that 26 cars would be taking the green flag at Homestead-Miami.

GreenLight Collectibles will help commemorate this milestone year for the IndyCar Series with the 2008 IndyCar Series die-cast replicas. The die-cast cars will be released as a part of GreenLight’s annual IndyCar Series Garage. The 2008 IndyCar Series Garage will consist of 1:18 (Approx. 11” long) and 1:64 (Approx. 3” long) scale die-cast cars.

Each 1:18 car will feature die-cast metal body and chassis, real rubber tires, sequentially numbered bases, and custom window box packaging. Each 1:64 car will feature die-cast metal body and chassis, real rubber tires, sequentially numbered bases, and custom clamshell packaging. All GreenLight IndyCar die-cast is officially licensed by the Indy Racing League and the individual IndyCar Series racing teams. All cars will be available in 1:64 and 1:18 scale with the exception of Vitor Meira/Panther Racing (1:18 only).

As the 2008 IndyCar series heats up the replicas will be available on the shelves. The majority of the cars will be available in May 2008. The cars can be purchased at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Maingate and through the GreenLight Distribution network.

The IndyCar Series is the premier series of the Indy Racing League. The IndyCar Series, kicks off at Homestead-Miami Speedway on March 29, 2008 and crosses the finish line on September 7, 2008 at Chicagoland Speedway. The 2008 schedule consists of sixteen races throughout the United States, with one race at Twin Ring Motegi (Japan) and one race in Surfer’s Paradise (Australia).
